Staging is the star in Barrie Kosky’s take on Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin. The production teems with life; trees line the background and thick grass carpets the floor, spilling off the edge of the Festival Theatre stage. The large cast fills the performance space and the auditorium with spirited Russian-folk tinged song.
Designer Rebecca Ringst’s sea of grass and rich forest backdrop are built on The Revolving Stage Company’s 12m diameter revolving stage and surround stage and operated using the pre-programmed software package RevolveSolve.
